Complications of Surgery for Morbid Obesity: Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy
Park Jung-Min

Abstract
Laparoscopic sleeve gastrectomy (LSG) is an effective bariatric procedure, and it can be done as an isolated LSG or in conjunction with biliopancreatic diversion bypass. The LSG has become a popular stand-alone bariatric surgery because of comparable weight loss and resolution of comorbidities to that of laparoscopic gastric bypass. The simplicity of the procedure also made this surgery more appealing. In addition, the complication rate of the LSG was reported to be much lower than that of gastric bypass or biliopancreatic diversion. The main postoperative complications of LSG are leakage, hemorrhage, stricture, and gastroesophageal reflux. Herein, we described these four main complications of LSG.
